One-pot laccase@MOF biocatalysts efficiently remove bisphenol A from water

The presence of bisphenol A (BPA) in wastewater, its toxicity and the hardness for complete degradation constitutes a serious environmental problem scientific challenge. enzyme laccase is an oxidoreductase capable oxidizing phenolic compounds, being one most efficient biocatalysts BPA removal. immobilization laccases to lead solid essential their applications as it allows stabilization easy recovery from liquid reaction media subsequent reuse. This work compares efficiency siliceous-type supports, which have traditionally been used this purpose, with use MOF-type supports. Thanks versatility synthesis methods offered by MOFs, can be prepared one-pot using in-situ procedure ([email protected]2-MIL-53(Al)) under conditions compatible enzymatic activity (room temperature, aqueous solution moderate pH values). resulting biocatalyst displays high loading 100 mg.g-1 also permanent: free leaching. As opposed, post-synthesis two steps: Lac#NH2-MIL-53(Al) (with low loading) Lac#Amorphous silica-NH2 (100 loading, but rate leaching) were compared. In contrast elimination 90% 60 min obtained silica-NH2, on MOFs resulted much more efficient. own enzyme-free support (NH2-MIL-53(Al)) removed than 30 min, such performance was widely surpassed [email protected]2-MIL-53(Al) (100% just 3 min). significant improvement attributed mutual simultaneous contribution both enzyme. addition, able remove five successive cycles higher 85% at end last batch.
